I Walked On Water

Today, God gave me one of the greatest insights I’ve had in a long time.

I cried. Not sad tears, but the kind of tears that come when something touches your spirit so deeply that you know it is meant for you.

I’m not even sure I can fully articulate what God revealed to me, so I’m just going to write and allow the message to come through.

This morning, I woke up and told myself, Don’t pick up your phone and go straight to TikTok.

Instead, I decided to listen to Patrice Washington’s podcast. I honestly couldn’t tell you exactly what was said. I just know something I heard reminded me of a dream I had.

And suddenly, I understood the dream differently.

In the dream, I was walking on water.

But here’s the crazy part—I didn’t realize I was walking on water.

I was too busy watching these children swimming underneath the water. Their eyes were wide open, and they were gliding through the water like little fish.

I remember looking at them and thinking, I wish I could do that.

And then it hit me.

Anaya… YOU ARE WALKING ON WATER.

I was so focused on what they could do that I couldn’t see the miracle happening underneath my own feet.

I was doing the impossible.

I was walking on water like Jesus, yet I couldn’t recognize the miracle because I was focused on what I thought I couldn’t do.

Whew.

And that is when I felt God speaking to me:

Anaya, you are here for a reason. You have a purpose. Stop doubting the vision I have given you for your life. Trust Me.

And then I remembered the second part of the dream.

When I finally reached the shore, I realized I didn’t have any shoes on.

I was barefoot.

Immediately, my mind went to what was missing.

Where are my shoes? Why don’t I have shoes? I need to go back and get my shoes.

Then I realized I didn’t have my wallet either.

No wallet. No money.

And once again, I understood the message.

Anaya, you just walked on water, and now you’re worried about shoes and money?

God spoke. He said trust in me. SEE ME!  And I will give you the desires of your heart, and you will do the impossible!

God can bring us through things we never thought we would survive. Doors can open that we couldn’t have opened ourselves. We can accomplish things we once prayed to be able to do.

And somehow, we still find ourselves worrying about what we don’t have.

We look at someone else’s gifts and forget our own.

We look at what hasn’t happened and forget everything that has.

We focus on the shoes and the wallet while completely forgetting that we just walked on water.

The message I received was simple:

If I gave you the ability to walk on water, imagine what else I can do through you.

That broke something open inside of me.

Maybe faith isn’t always about waiting for the miracle.

Maybe sometimes faith is recognizing the miracle that is already happening.

Maybe some of us are asking God, When is my blessing coming? while standing right in the middle of the blessing.

Maybe the shift isn’t that we need more.

Maybe we need new eyes to see what is already here.

Today, I am choosing to stop focusing so much on what I don’t have, what I haven’t accomplished, and what I think I can’t do.

I am choosing to see differently.

I am choosing faith.

I am choosing to trust God’s vision for my life, even when I can’t see the whole picture.

And most importantly, I am choosing to recognize the miracle that I already am.

So I want to leave you with these questions:

What miracle is already happening in your life that you haven’t stopped long enough to recognize?

What are you so focused on not having that you’ve forgotten how far God has already brought you?

And how would your life change if you truly trusted God’s vision for your life?

Stop looking at your bare feet long enough to realize…

Baby, you just walked on water.

An Attitude of Gratitude

I remember saying the same simple prayer as a child before I went to sleep, “ God I thank you for my mother, grandmother, little sister and brothers.  I thank you for the clothes on my back.  The food you put on the table and the roof over my head. Amen”

As a little girl, I was grateful for my family, the gift of being alive, taken care of and loved by God. But somewhere along my path, life, food, shelter and love was not enough, I wanted more. I couldn’t appreciate what was in front of me because my attention was focused on what I lacked.

There is a quote I love by Deepak Chopra,  “The past is history, the future a mystery and this moment is a gift. That is why it is called the present.”  Every moment that I am alive and breathing is a blessing. Life is God’s gift. The present moment is God’s gift.

So I’ve decided to be grateful for the present moment because it is the “space” where I can appreciate God’s blessings.

Inspired by Don Miguel Ruiz’s book, The Four Agreements, I decided to create my own agreements. It is my goal to be mindful of each agreement for thirty days so that they will become an unconscious habit.

First Agreement: The most important person in my life is the person I am talking to right now.  I will not judge, criticize or complain about what they are saying or doing.  I will send them loving energy and be grateful for just being in their presence. I will not think about the fifty million things I need to be doing. I will not check my email or social media. I will give that person my complete attention.

Second Agreement: The most important thing that I am doing is right now.  I will not complain or wish that I were doing something other than what I am doing.  I will love, play and simply enjoy the moment.

Third Agreement: The most important action I can take in this moment is one of self-love.  I will love myself even when I make a mistake. I will focus on the positive. I will celebrate my accomplishments big or small. I will be grateful for being me.
